Dr Khahliso Leketa



Dr Khahliso Leketa is a Project Officer at WaterNet, based in Maseru Lesotho, assigned to a European Union and German Government funded ReNOKA project called, HUMAN CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT FOR LESOTHO IN INTEGRATED CATCHMENT MANAGEMENT: FOCUS ON THE TERTIARY SECTOR AND SHORT PROFESSIONAL COURSES. In this ReNOKA project, he assists coordination of ICM/IWRM capacity building in tertiary institutions through development of curriculum and implementation of short professional courses for practising natural resources professionals. Dr Leketa is a water resources specialist who holds a PhD in Hydrogeology from the University of the Witwatersrand, an MSc and BSc Honours in Hydrogeology from the University of the Free State, Institute for Groundwater Studies (IGS) and a BSc General with a major in Chemistry and Geography from the National University of Lesotho (NUL). He started his career at the Department of Water Affairs, Maseru Lesotho where he served in the hydrogeology division. Before his engagement at WaterNet, Dr Leketa was a lecturer at the NUL, Faculty of Science and Technology in the Department of Geography and Environmental Science, where he was responsible for teaching and undertaking research in water resources. His research interests are on applications of environmental tracers to understand catchment hydrological processes; water pathways, groundwater-surface water interaction, storage, residence times, etc. He is also interested in project management and implementation of IWRM to meet the SDGs. Dr Leketa is registered as a Certified Professional Natural Scientist (Pr.Sci.Nat) with the South African Council for Natural Science Professions (SACNASP).
